TPSB PARTNERS WITH CARDVALET® TO ENHANCE DEBIT CARD SECURITY

The Peoples Savings Bank of Urbana, Ohio, is leveraging the latest banking technology to combat cybersecurity concerns and help customers safeguard their in-store and online purchases. Called CardValet®, the smartphone app works in conjunction with all TPSB debit cards by providing account oversight tools to manage purchases, set spending limits, review balances, and flag fraudulent charges through instant notifications.



Mobile App is a Free Service for iPhone® and Android® Users to Safeguard Spending and Protect Against Fraud

The Peoples Savings Bank of Urbana, Ohio, is leveraging the latest banking technology to combat cybersecurity concerns and help customers safeguard their in-store and online purchases.  Called CardValet®, the smartphone app works in conjunction with all TPSB debit cards by providing account oversight tools to manage purchases, set spending limits, review balances, and flag fraudulent charges through instant notifications. Best of all, the application allows users to activate, de-activate, and re-activate TPSB debit cards at any time from anywhere.  The iPhone® and Android® app is completely free to download and use* from the AppStore® or GooglePlay®.

CardValet’s mobile application works seamlessly with existing TPSB debit cards and provides an additional layer of protection as cybersecurity risks continue to threaten the financial security of individuals and businesses. While the app offers an array of conveniences to manage legitimate debit card transactions, the most powerful feature allows the card to be turned on and off like a switch. The process takes just seconds and works anywhere in the world where internet access is available.

“We’re always looking for additional ways to leverage the latest technology and empower our customers to take greater control of their financial security,” said TPSB President Brian Nicol.  “We chose to partner with CardValet because the tools and feature sets integrate smoothly with our personal and business debit card account holders.  Consumers take their smartphones wherever they go and with the CardValet application installed and configured, their debit card is always protected even when it’s lost or stolen.”

Debit card customers have a variety of options to configure the CardValet mobile app to their preference.  Users can allow all transactions to occur and then dispute questionable charges as transaction notifications are instantly pushed to their mobile phone.  Cardholders can also choose to activate the card only when they are about to make a legitimate purchase, then de-activate the card moments after the transaction is successful.  There are also clever tech tools to help cardholders stick to spending budgets, restrict purchases to certain merchants or genres’, and even GPS tools to restrict purchases to predefined locations. No matter how CardValet is set up and configured, the service offers debit card holders more power and protection over their financial security.

“The process to set up the mobile app on your smartphone and link it to your TPSB debit card is very straightforward and only takes a couple minutes,” said Christi Milliron, TPSB Checking Account Coordinator who spearheaded the campaign to integrate CardValet with TPSB’s banking technology.  “We liked CardValet’s approach because their app is intuitive and easy to use.  It offers the technology needs on our must-have list. If a debit card is lost or stolen, users can instantly de-activate the card with their smartphone and render it inoperable.”
